Belu.Spektrum-ntt.com || Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan Swasta (SMKS) Katholik Kusuma Atambua telah meraih keberhasilan-keberhasilan terstruktur beberapa tahun belakangan ini. Hal itu dinyatakan melalui penghargaan yang diterima oleh lembaga pendidikan tersebut pada tahun 2020 sebagai School Centre Of Excellence.

Keberhasilan dan keunggulan yang dimiliki oleh lembaga tersebut disampaikan oleh Kepala Sekolah, Sr. Agustina Bete Kiik, SSpS saat jumpa pers di ruangan kerjanya pada Jumat (01/03/24).

"Tahun 2020 SMKS Katholik Kusuma Atambua terpilih sebagai sekolah Center Of Excellence dengan prioritasnya disektor hospitality, saat itu SMK Kusuma Atambua mendapatkan 2 bantuan yaitu bantuan fisik dan bantuan nonfisik, bantuan fisik berupa Ed Hotel Kusuma dan bantuan nonfisik berupa peningkatan kompetensi bagi guru dan siswa," ungkap Sr. Agustin.

Sr. Agustin menyampaikan bahwa, SMKS Kusuma Atambua memiliki 6 progam keahlian yaitu; busana, kuliner, spa dan kecantikan, layanan kesehatan, usaha layanan pariwisata dan perhotelan.

"Pada tahun 2021 SMKS Kusuma Atambua terpilih sebagai SMKS pusat keunggulan, fokusnya pada bantuan non fisik agar dapat meningkatan kompetensi guru dan siswa yang dimana sekolah mengadakan kerjasama dengan industri-industri serta mengundang praktisi-praktisi dari luar untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kepada guru dan siswa," ungkapnya.

Dijelaskan Sr. Agustin, jalinan kerjasama dan penyelarasan kurikulum dengan industri- industri sudah dilakukan sejak tahun 2021, hampir semua industri perhotelan di Atambua, Kefa dan Kupang sudah lakukan MOU dengan SMKS Katholik Kusuma, yakni; Hotel Livero, Soti Hotel, Aston Hotel, On The Rock Hotel dan Kristal Hotel.

Kerja sama antara sekolah dan industri perhotelan tidak hanya dilakukan di dalam lingkaran Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur saja, tetapi juga dapat dilakukan di luar Provinsi diantaranya Provinsi Bali (Aston Hotel, Kartika Plaza Bali, Djayakarta Bali).

Selain itu SMKS Kusama Atambua juga mengadakan MOU dengan salah satu Hotel yang berada di Jogjakarta (Drich Hotel Jogjakarta) dan siswa siswa pun sudah dikirim ke sana untuk praktek lapangan, sedangkan untuk keahlian busana sudah dilakukan kerjasama dengan fashion fashion yang berada di Kupang, Bali dan Surabaya begitu juga dengan program keahlian para wisata, dan telah direncanakan untuk tahun ini siswa siswa PKL di Timor Leste.

Di tahun 2021 sekolah ini terpilih sebagai Gerakan Sekolah Menyenangkan dan saya selaku kepala sekolah terpilih sebagai Mentor GSM sehingga pengembangan tidak hanya dilakukan di sekolah ini saja namun saya juga harus berbagi kepada sekolah-sekolah lain. GSM dilakukan setiap hari Sabtu dengan harapan agar dapat memanusiakan manusia.

Kurikulum Merdeka sudah diterapkan di SMKS Kusuma Atambua sejak tahun 2021, tahun 2022 sekolah ini masih saja menerima bantuan SMK pusat keunggulan sampai tahun 2023 dan untuk tahun ini dikhususkan untuk pembelajaran Teaching Factory (TEFA).

Sebagai salah satu sekolah Penggerak SMKS Kusama Atambua mendapatkan a world "The Best Favorit School" di Jogjakarta tahun 2023, dan untuk tahun ini SMKN Kusama Atambua sudah harus mendapatkan 4 pilar Media di Bandung di bulan Januari, namun kepala sekolah minta untuk diundur ke bulan Oktober mendatang dikarenakan situasi.

Sr. Agustin mengatakan, sejak adanya SMKS pusat keunggulan, sekolah ini semakin berkembang dikarenakan adanya kerjasama dengan berbagai industri dan mengundang guru-guru tamu untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan serta pendamping untuk mengembangkan bakat dan minat siswa seperti; publik speaking, seni musik, master of ceremony (MC), pidato (speech) dan kegiatan ekstra lainnya, seperti; pramuka, olahraga, seni budaya dengan harapan agar dapat mengembangkan bakat dan kemampuan siswa. 

Sr. Agustin mengatakan, salah seorang siswa SMKS Kusama Atambua pernah terpilih untuk mengikuti tarian pada saat KTT Asean di Labuan Bajo, yang kemudian di kirim ke Jerman dan Kembali dengan mendapatkan beasiswa ISI.

Begitu banyak berkat yang diterima SMK Kusuma sejak tahun 2020 sampai dengan saat ini sehingga dapat menambah jumlah siswa yang dulunya berjumlah 200an kini meningkatkan hingga 865, karena peningkatan jumlah siswa sehingga dapat menambah lokasi sekolah yang saat ini berada di Raibasin dengan luas tanah sekitar 12 Ha.

Sr. Agustin juga menghimbau kepada masyarakat kabupaten Belu untuk memberikan dukungan kepada lembaga dengan cara ikut berperan guna memajukan lembaga.

"Bapak, ibu silakan mendaftarkan anak-anak di SMK Kusuma Atambua untuk mengembangkan bakat dan kemampuan mereka. Saya yakin setelah mereka selesai dari sini mereka akan memiliki masa depan yang cerah. Mereka bisa melanjutkan pendidikan ke perguruan tinggi setelah tamat dari sini, selain itu mereka juga bisa membuka usaha sendiri dengan bakat dan keterampilan yang telah dibekali dan sudah terbukti dengan kesuksesan para alumni," ajak Sr. Agustin.
